Burmese Cat Colors
In Australia, the United Kingdom, and Europe, the Burmese cat is recognized by ten primary colors:
- The original Burmese hue was brown, a deep, cozy seal brown.
- Silver-shaded blue—a gentle blue-grey.
- Warm milk chocolate, that is.
- Lilac: a delicate, soft dove gray with a hint of pink.
- Red—The exterior coat is melon-orange, while the body is red-orange.
- Cream—cream that gives the appearance of powder and has a noticeable bloom on the head and back.
- Brown, with hints of crimson, tortie.
- Blue tortie—cream-hued and blue.
- Chocolate with crimson hues—chocolate tortie.
- Lilac tortie—lilac with cream-colored hues
In America, many cat associations recognise the four main colours of Burmese cats. Those colour variations also have alternative names compared to those described above:
Sable, the same as ‘Brown’
Champagne, the same as ‘Chocolate’
Platinum, the same a ‘Lilac’
Blue, the same as ‘Blue’
Only a few organisations recognise the remaining colours. In many American associations, additional colours and certain other physical features characterise the European (or “Foreign”) Burmese.
